Unfortunate

She packed her bags ,

Carried as much as she could ,

She was ready –

So were many others ,

A backpack and an infant- her most valued

The only things she carried ,

They waited for the boat

For an escape ,

For a living ,

For a safer place –

The boat was full ,more than full

It almost sank –

People threw their bags

She threw hers too

Her baby cried- for he was hungry

People got angry

She shut his mouth –

With her palms

No cry or cue of cry

They landed safe ,

All were happy

They said “fortunate ”

Her baby never cried !

She lost him

The feelings unmoored her

She was the unfortunate !!
An unfortunate story of a mother who lost her baby while trying to flee to a safer place. In response to daily post prompt unmoored. Unmoored
